An 81-year-old woman from Willowvale, Nowezile Mncoko, who was arrested by local police for possession of dagga plants, appeared before the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
“She pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of dagga plants,” said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.
“She was sentenced as follows – cautioned and discharged.”
The woman was arrested on Wednesday, at about 16:30, at Mente Village, Willowvale.
“The police were on patrol when they noticed dagga plants in the garden of the suspect,” said Captain Manatha.
He said that the police officers went to the house and found the suspect.
“Police uprooted dagga plants from the garden of the suspect. The suspect was charged with possession of dagga plants.
“A total of eight dagga plants to the value of R2 500 were uprooted,” said Captain Manatha.
