The Natal chairman of the MK’s veteran movement, Themba Mavundla, has called on young blacks to sign up for military training in preparation for an expected war.
Mavundla’s motivation is his assertion that white people are training themselves on farms and that young black persons must, therefore, be ready to defend the country against “military-educated whites.” He said before Zuma falls, “the art of war must be transferred to the young blacks. Otherwise, the country will be taken.” He also encouraged young blacks to join legal structures such as the army and police. According to observers, it is an indication of the racial radicalization of both the police and the military.
However, he was summoned by Mkhize of the ANC who said that such war tales would send “the wrong message about the party.”
