At 17h10 on Saturday Afternoon Netcare 911 and provincial paramedics responded to Helmsley Grove in the Cato Manor area of Durban for a child that had been attacked by two Pit Bull dogs. The exact detail to the incident and preceding events is still speculative.
Paramedics arrived at the family home and found the three-year-old-girl with life threatening injuries.
Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said her six-year-old brother was also attacked and left in a serious condition.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Paramedics from various services worked fervently to save the life of the severely mauled child. Tragically, despite all their effort the little girl was declared dead at the scene.
