Masha is a stray cat living in Obninsk, Russia. Masha gets some food from the kind-hearted people in the neighborhood. If it gets too cold at night, some of the people let her in.
Irna Lavoraa is one of those people. While Irna was throwing out the garbage, she heard noises that didn’t sound like the noise any cat would make, and it was coming from the basement.
Irna feared Masha or another animal may be hurt and went to investigate. She found in a cardboard box, not a cat, but a baby boy.
Masha was there too. Authorities believe the infant to be about 12-weeks old. He had probably been lying in the cold, damp basement for several hours.
But, he wasn’t cold because Masha had been there by his side. Without Masha, they believe the baby would have died. Masha even chased the ambulance down the street.
Obviously, to Masha, a human had left the baby in the basement – she didn’t trust these humans knew any better!
The baby has recovered from the incident and police are looking for his parents. Life for Masha has returned to normal. Irna said that Masha is a very friendly and calm cat.
After reading this story, you have to admit, she has more sense than the parents of that baby. We can only hope the infant isn’t returned to those people.
