Shootout at about 12:00 today, 14/12/16 at Longmeadow Business Estate, Modderfontein, Johannesburg (Photos and Video below-Video credit: Anonymous).
Today I personally witnessed the South African Police Service acting in a way that can only be described as fearless and heroic!
Assailants allegedly committed a robbery in Cresta area. An unmarked cop car chased them all the way to Modderfontein, where a Police helicopter joined them.
We then heard numerous gunshots, some from what sounds like an R5 rifle. When we looked out the window from the second floor of the office building, we saw the helicopter circling above us, while firing shots at the assailants – during lunch hour traffic!
The cops in the helicopter first shot out their tire and when they kept driving, they took out the driver of the Mini Cooper Countryman as they were allegedly opening fire on the unmarked cop car that chased them from Cresta. If you look at the photos, you’ll notice the perfectly grouped shots on the driver side windscreen of the assailant’s vehicle – doing that from a moving, circling, helicopter with an R5 aimed at a moving target! Unbelievable accuracy!
The Mini then crashed into the palisades of a business.
The helicopter landed with the rotor blades mere meters away from surrounding trees, palisades etc.
The getaway driver was killed instantaneously, while one more was wounded critically and the two others arrested. With no police or civilian casualties!
Robbers, beware – Our Boys in Blue are waiting for you!
