Would-be robbers who hastily fled after a homeowner fired a warning shot, crashed into another vehicle in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, on Thursday morning.

It’s believed the suspects, who were travelling in a white Land Rover, attempted to rob a house on Ditton Avenue.

Upon being confronted with an armed homeowner, the Land Rover sped into the street, colliding with a silver Audi.

The suspects then fled on foot while the Audi driver was taken to hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Although four shots were fired, police are yet to determine if they were fired by the suspects, or residents.

This incident comes after a woman was attacked on Goring Avenue in Auckland Park on Monday.

Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela said police won’t rule out the possibility of criminals targeting the suburb.

“If the community sees suspicious people walking or driving around, they must inform the police,” he said.

No arrests have been made.
